1. Who we are
Sunburnt Games Pty Ltd (ACN 703 074 462, ABN 84 703 074 462) is an Australian company. We develop and publish mobile games, including Cricket Mayhem and Rugby Mayhem (our "Games"), and run this website (together, the "Services"). In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean Sunburnt Games Pty Ltd.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Where other laws apply to you, such as the EU or UK GDPR or US state privacy laws, we also aim to meet those requirements.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you sign up for a beta, register interest in merch, or email us, we collect your email address, the platform you choose (iOS or Android), any design or order preferences you submit, and anything you write to us.
Information collected automatically when you play. Our Games, and the third-party services built into them, may collect:
- Device information such as model, operating system, language, screen size and app version.
- Device and advertising identifiers, such as Apple's IDFA or IDFV and Google's Advertising ID, where you allow it.
- IP address and approximate location derived from it (country or region). We do not collect precise GPS location.
- Gameplay data such as matches played, scores, progress, settings and session length.
- Ad interaction data such as ads shown, clicked or completed.
- Crash logs and performance diagnostics.
- For online multiplayer, a player ID, display name you choose, and match data needed to connect you with other players.
Purchases. In-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation of what you bought, but never your card or payment details.
On this website. Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. The website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. If you switch between the light and dark themes, your browser remembers the choice in its local storage; it never leaves your device.
3. How we use information
- To run the Games, save your progress and deliver purchases.
- To provide online multiplayer, matchmaking and leaderboards.
- To show ads, including rewarded ads you choose to watch, and to measure how ads perform.
- To understand how the Games are played so we can fix bugs and improve balance and features.
- To detect cheating, fraud and abuse.
- To send beta invites or merch updates you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
4. Advertising
Our Games are free to play and are supported by in-game advertising. We work with third-party advertising partners and mediation platforms that serve ads in our Games. These partners may collect and use device identifiers, IP address, approximate location and ad interaction data to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance, prevent fraud and, where you allow it, personalise ads based on your interests.
Our advertising and analytics partners may include services such as:
| Partner | Purpose | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Unity Technologies (Unity Ads, LevelPlay, Unity Gaming Services) | Ads, ad mediation, analytics, multiplayer | unity.com |
| Google (AdMob, Firebase) | Ads, analytics, crash reporting | policies.google.com |
| AppLovin | Ads | applovin.com |
| Apple and Google | App distribution and in-app purchases | apple.com · google.com |
The exact partners can vary between Games and over time. Each partner handles data under its own privacy policy.
On iOS, we ask your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before any app accesses your IDFA for tracking. If you say no, you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalised using that identifier.
On Android, you can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your device's Settings under Privacy, then Ads.
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, we show a consent message before personalised ads are served, and you can change your choice from the Game's settings.
5. When we share information
We don't sell your personal information for money. We share information only:
- With the advertising, analytics, hosting and multiplayer providers described above, so the Games can work and be funded.
- With service providers who help us run the business, under confidentiality obligations. These include Cloudflare (website hosting and security), Google (Google Forms, which collects beta tester sign-ups) and, once the Merch Shack opens, payment and print-on-demand partners.
- If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our players, us or others.
- As part of a business sale or restructure, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Some US state laws treat sharing data for targeted advertising as a "sale" or "share". You can opt out using the ad settings described in section 4, or by contacting us.
6. Overseas transfers
Our partners may store and process information outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union and other countries. We take reasonable steps to make sure those partners protect your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Children
Our Games are rated for general audiences but are not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Where a Game may be played by children, we configure our ad partners to serve non-personalised, age-appropriate ads to users who indicate they are under age. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Beta and merch sign-up emails are kept until you ask us to remove them or the program ends. Gameplay and analytics data is generally kept for up to 26 months unless the law requires longer. Our partners set their own retention periods.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and rights
- Ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you.
- Withdraw consent for personalised ads at any time in your device or Game settings.
- Stop getting emails from us by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by asking us.
- If you're in the EEA or UK, you can also object to or restrict processing, ask for data portability, and complain to your local data protection authority.
Deleting your data. To delete your game data, email us with the subject "Delete my data" and the name of the Game. Include your player ID if you have one (shown in the Game's settings). We'll confirm within 30 days. Uninstalling a Game removes data stored on your device.
11. Contact and complaints
Email: [email protected]
Sunburnt Games Pty Ltd, Australia.
We aim to respond within 30 days. If you're not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our Games change. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the Game if the changes are significant.
